Rome wasn't built in a Day!

3 weeks into our journey at www.the-foodie.co.uk and what a whirlwind of activity, excitement, lists and spreadsheets!  To do lists!!  I’m sure my husband Duncan has particularly enjoyed this bit!  Although thankfully he doesn’t mind a spreadsheet!  Rock and roll hey!

What have we been up to?  Well learning about marketing!  We love our range of products but how do we get it seen by those fellow foodies! That is the tricky bit! So I signed up to a free marketing challenge @nikihutchinson and as a result of that I tackled our Instagram and Facebook pages so our bio captured exactly what we’re about!

We take bored, “in a rut,” food shoppers to artisan heaven with a range of homemade and taste-tastic products for all dietary needs; ensuring likeminded foodies spice up mealtimes from the comfort of their own home.  Many great taste award winning products.

Then we added more homemade taste-tastic products to our breakfast range.  We were excited to add @Thursdaycottage home-made jams and @Nutcessity nut butters.

Thursday Cottage have been hand making their Jams, Marmalades & Curds in small batches for over 55 years. They lovingly hand pour their Jams & Marmalades into traditional jars to ensure that each one is perfect. Pouring by hand also means that each jar will contain more whole fruit for more flavour.  In recent years Thursday Cottage products have received gold awards at the Great Taste Awards.  Not an easy task!

Nutcessity was started by Mike in 2016 at home after discovering nut butter on his travels in Australia.  Mike has a peanut allergy but is obsessed with tree nut butter.  In his own words, “I wanted my nut butter to be embellished - in every area. Because I don’t add refined sugar or syrups (and definitely no palm oil), my spreads are only slightly sweet, in a wholesome fashion, whilst their texture is more fudge-like & creamy, depending on the room’s temperature. The company’s mission is to ‘support the plant-based and organic movements in the UK and abroad by offering delicious, sustainable products in plastic-free packaging, and to give back to communities less well off than our own.”  He has already won Great Taste Awards for his products, incredible!

Well it’s still early days for The-Foodie and starting a business from scratch is definitely not for the faint hearted.  It takes another level of determination and tenacity but I’m a firm believer that hard work pays off. I’m probably the most impatient person I know, so it’s good to remember - Rome wasn’t built in a day! Although I’ll give it a go!
